With her rustic, vintage and country inspired concept in mind Amanda embarked on a planning journey with the help of  Whitebook Events. Together they created a romantic, relaxed and elegant event, inspired by venue Spicers Hiddenvale outside of Brisbane. With it’s unique country charm and truly Australian backdrop, providing the perfect location for this couples celebrations. Each element of the day combined effortlessly to translate the theme. From the floral bouquets and centerpieces created by Bouquet Boutique to the classic Wedding cake inspired by the Brides beautiful Wendy Makin gown. Muted, neutral colours set the tone for the event with Oyster, Coffee and Dusty Pink combining perfectly. The splashes of Peacock Blue elevate the theme and add a striking contrast against the natural, country backdrop. The result a careful, yet carefree combination of elegant vintage charm and romantic, country styling.

Having spanned an 18 year relationship this couple envisioned an intimate celebration in which they could enjoy the company of those who share their lives. A special surprise for the couple was the moment their Celebrant asked the family and friends present if they support Amanda & Grant’s marriage. “They answered so loudly and with so much enthusiasm ‘We do’ that Grant & I along with everyone had a good laugh”, said the bride. A moment that is sure to be remembered by each who were a part of this couple’s special day.

Designer Rebecca has a history of both formal study and personal enjoyment for art and design and this is truly evident in her stationary. She also takes pride in the materials that she uses. “I spend a lot of time sourcing high quality materials. The paper and card comes direct from a paper mill in the Lake District that has been around since 1753!” Rebecca said. Each invitation is hand made and carefully assembled using a range of contemporary and traditional elements. Emily and Edwards Wedding  took place on a beautiful Canberra spring day at the Australian National University Chapel. A stylish backdrop for what was to be such a stunning celebration. Emily wore a Spanish Lace gown by Pronovias and accompanied it with her Mothers veil, worn at her Wedding, 35 years ago. Bridesmaids were dressed in vibrant Paco Cornflower Blue gowns, injecting a splash of colour to an otherwise neutral palette.  Rather than carry individual bouquet’s, Emily chose wrist corsages instead, made up of plush Peonies, pearls and fluffy feathers… An creative element reflecting subtle vintage roots and beautifully crafted by Poetry in Flowers.

After their Catholic Mass Ceremony the couple relaxed for photos in the university grounds before making an entrance at their Great Hall reception. Their traditional Wedding cake was lovingly baked by Emily’s mother and decorated by a family friend. The recipe was reminiscent of Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth’s Wedding Cakes for a little royal touch! The remainder of the reception carried though on the couples thoughtful planning… “A live band ensured the guests danced through the night with our first dance a choreographed bridal salsa” said Emily. What a fun day this must have been for all who attended.

This Princess Theme is a clever way to use motifs and accessories as the main feature rather than colour. By using a muted Silver tone accompanied by crisp White, the focus is on the subtle and delicate touches. From the mini tiara place card holders to the crown adorning the Wedding cake, shiny, sparkly accents take centre stage. The soft metallic Silver tone is a beautiful way to tie it all together and can be used in a multitude of ways. These creations from by Amanda at Fantasy Floral Designs are no ordinary floral posies, and I just had to write about them. Each of these bridal bouquets are carefully crafted entirely from Brooches… Beautiful, ornate, colorful and lady-like brooches that when combined in a mass arrangement, are taken to a whole other level. Made entirely by hand, each bouquet is a work of art comprised of Brooches gifted to the Bride. Amanda is passionate about her creations and the joy she puts into each design is most evident. Being an old fashioned accessory, heirlooms are a popular inclusion in the bouquets. Remember that beautiful old brooch your grandmother used to show you? Hidden away in the back of her jewelery box? Well, what better way to show it off and really pay homage to such a special family piece.

I can’t think of a better way to incorporate the tradition of  ’something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue’, into your wedding day. Some brides may chose to include a brooch as a gift from their groom to acknowledge the present or include a vintage blue piece to keep up with tradition. Raelene and Christopher carefully planned each element of their dream day with a sophisticated and personalised touch. They were married in the same church were Christopher was christened, making for some long-time family memories! Simple elegant design with emphasis on their chosen colour scheme accentuated their timeless concept. From the Bridesmaids dressed in Burgundy knee length dresses, to the vivid Cymbidium Orchid floral arrangements, each element made for a very personalised affair. I love their quirky cake design by Delaney’s, which included the couples monogram as it’s topper. Raelene also did some investigating of her own for ways to to incorporate tradition into their day. “We cut our Wedding cake straight away, as we did some research and found out that it was an old tradition. A form of  breaking the bread which eventually turned into a cake”.

Having lost her grandfather a month before her Wedding day, Raelene chose to honour his memory by having his wedding ring wired into her bouquet. She also displayed his photo at the reception to ensure he was looking on, and a part of the occasion. It’s special, personal touches like this that make a Wedding truly unique. What a special tribute this was and a part of her day that this bride will always remember.

The couples reception was held at the Novotel North Beach and their function room was filled with a warm and inviting atmosphere. From draped fairy lights across the ceiling to immersed orchid and mirror centrepieces, guests were welcomed with canapes upon arrival. For guest Favors “we had glass coasters personalised with the guests name placed on individual mini easels” Raelene said.

Raelene & Christopher’s Wedding day shows so perfectly just how personal touches can create priceless moments. A day that I am sure this couple will treasure for a lifetime. Thank you Raelene and Chris for sharing your Wedding day story with all of us here at One White Dress. ♥
