Hi Girls,

Did anyone not have an engagement party?

H2B and I have been engaged for just over 18 months and we still haven't had an engagement party. I guess we just never got around to it, and it feels like now it is too late!

However I am just a tiny bit jealous of the people that did have one! (combined with the fact I have a “hand-me-down” ring!).

So did anyone not have one?

And is it too late for me to have one? We're getting married in June 2010.

Jenni I don't think it's too late to celebrate your engagement!  Don't worry about any ettiquete that says you need to do it within a certain time frame.

What do you mean about the ring?  Jealous that you don't have a new one to show off?

Yeah Carly, not so much jealous that I don't have a new one to “show off”, but just that it would be nice to have my “own” ring that h2b gave to me himself.

My current ring (which I love very much! Don't get me wrong!) my mum gave to me when I was 17, so when we got engaged I basically just swapped it from my right hand to my left hand.

I don't want anything big, fancy or expensive, h2b could give me a plastic ring from a vending machine for all I care – as long as it was from him!

I've discussed it with him and we're going shopping on the weekend, there's one at Tiffany's that is silver and around the outside it says “I love you” – I think it's perfect!

Might also talk to him about having an engagement party :)

Ohh I get it now, definetly think he should get you a ring, plastic or real… it should be from him! Would feel a lot more special, and you can change the other ring back to your right hand.

And if you don't have an engagement party you might always look back and feel disapointed that you missed out on having one…

…Or in my case look back and say, 'omg, what a drunken, messy night' :\   lol

We didn't have one! Considering we have been together so long, plus didn't really tell too many people we were getting married and all. We just didn't feel we needed one plus our guest are already outlaying enough money just to come to our wedding.
