Where are you up to in your plans?

Hi Ladies,


I thought it might be a good idea to share plans and see where we are all up to!


I have about 8 months to go, and have most things organised.

At the moment I am just working with a “wedding stylist”, who is planning my ceremony and reception, invitations, and flowers. I can't wait to see what she comes up with.


Next on my list, is finding bridesmaid dresses for my girls. And a hairdresser!


What about you guys?

I am getting married in 120 days (eek!!) and have done the following

ceremony

reception

flowers

photography

booked decorations etc

celebrant

guys suits

Still to go I have to  find a good hair and make up artist – all the ones I have looked at are stuck in the 80's! And also have to find bridesmaids outfits, get my dress altered and embellished and book wedding night accommodation


can you think of anthing else I need to do?

I just discovered (well actually my “wedding stylist” told me haha!) these yesterday: http://www.bellafigura.com/ - I am in love with them!


I used to know a good hair dresser in Newcastle……. not sure if they travel though…

Oh that's right – I remember you saying about your sister now!


The stylist is about $5,000 – so that includes all the costs for ceremony and reception decorations, flowers, and invitations. Set up etc on the day, and on the day planning. Also – the last four weeks, they do all the last minute planning – ring all my suppliers, organise the time line etc, then on the day make sure things stick to the time line. At first I baulked at the price (about $2,000 more than I budgeted!), but once I realised it included all that – I think it's great.

that is quite good value for money, particularly if you are time poor. Not so good if you are actually poor!

I would never spend the money on something like that though.. obviously because I do events for a career and if I cant arrange my own wedding I have serious issues

I have a wedding planner, but I think I need a wedding stylist… I'm the most unco person I know of.. I can't even get my clothes and accessories to match each day.. let alone trying to plan a wedding and have it not look tacky *sigh*

Anyway, I'm 11 months out and I've just decided on a venue (in Bali) so my wedding coordinator guy has put a package together for me, which includes pretty much everything (I'm sourcing my own hair and make up person once I get over there tho)  Oh and it also doesn't include a drinks package just yet.

Carly thats amazing! You wont have to worry about anything. No need for a stylist – Bali is gorgeous and you wont need many 'decorations' so I wouldnt worry about a stylist.

Wow Carly that's one hell of a list!! sounds amazing – I want to come to your wedding! Love the sounds of the fire breathers!


How did you decide on getting married in Bali? I love the idea of a destination wedding, but Noosa is as far as I got!

ohhh, you guys can so come to my wedding!  If you happen to be in Bali at the time, I'd love to have you both there! :D

Jenni,  I've decided against having a band there… as you never know what you'll get.. they might be a bit dodgy with english or only be able to sing pub music, so I thought the firedancers might be nice for a bit of entertainment.  I'll just have music through a sound system. 

We were going to get married in h2b's hometown which is a beachy place in NSW, but we were in Bali in June and saw a really nice little chapel on the beach and just went.. ohh this place would be perfect, lets get married here.  Although now that i've looked into it, I want a beach/garden wedding instead of a chapel.  I also thought it would be a lot cheaper to get married over there, but now it doesn't really seem that way once I add accommodation, flights, spending money etc… but I guess that's the honeymoon too, while we are there.

And my last decision was because my family are absolute d*ckheads, so I know h2b's family will all save up and come over and mine won't.. So then I won't be feeling guilty for not inviting them and I won't have to spend the rest of my life hearing about what a bad daughter/sister/aunty/neice I am for not inviting family.. I'll invite them.. I just won't send out save the dates.. so they won't know about it until about 8 weeks prior.. haha so evil of me!

I just hope it all ends up being as I expect, in a way it's harder doing it like this as I can't go check out venues.  But the wedding planner has been suggesting places and email photos and quotes etc.

Oh and Noosa is BEAUTIFUL… your wedding there will be amazing!

i think that is all. We are having an intimate wedding on a small budget.
