Has anyone had a canape or cocktail wedding reception? I've only ever been to sit down reception dinners/lunches/brunches but never cocktail.

We went to a cocktail wedding and starved! We got about 3 pieces of food all night. Most guests went down stairs to the restaurant and ordered a meal. Plus there were no chairs so we had been standing up for 10 hours. Worst wedding ever… i would have prefered to pay for my own meal. So if you choose the cocktail canape option be sure to cater for more guests. Say your guest list is 120 people cater for 150 as they average 2-3 pieces per person.

Wow that sounds pretty bad! And no chairs too! I have been to a few wedding where they serve canapes after the ceremony so ppl will last until the reception. I'm guessing you would need to serve at least 10-15 pieces over a few hours so ppl don't get hungry.
