Birds of a Feather Theme

With the second Sex and the City movie soon to be released, I couldn’t help but unleash the hidden Carrie in me by creating this gorgeous Wedding theme. Using the bird feather fascinator worn in her ‘almost wedding’ to Mr Big as a focal point, each element of this theme is inspired by our feathered friends. With a slightly bohemian feel, the colours are muted and whimsical. A combination of pastels centred on the focal element of anything and everything associated with birds.

The cage is just one motif that can be utilised to create a theme reminiscent of birds… I love these Floral centrepieces from Mints Design. Arranged with a simple selection of fresh blooms, these accent the theme in a chic and elegant way. Even the Wedding cake can be adorned with a beautiful sugar cage. You almost expect a tiny canary to peep it’s head through to sing a pretty song! As for guest favors, the sky is the limit… I adore these mini bird nest favors adorned with eggshell blue sugared almonds. Such a simple idea and edible too which is always a bonus.

As for setting, well nature is the key there. Chose a location overlooking a lush garden or woody forest-grounds to reflect and welcome the essence of the theme and allow guests to be enveloped in the magic of the outdoors. You really can let your imagination soar with this theme and create a unique and personalised concept as sweet as two love birds in a nest… It’s almost too easy to get Carrie-d away. ♥
