Cakeout… Day One - Green with Envy

Today is the first day of my official Cakeout with my Fork out. A monumental search for the very best Wedding Cakes arranged in groups based on form, theme, colour and/or design. With over 700 cake images in my archives and millions more to be found online, my hardest task is sure to be narrowing down the players to bring you the most outstanding Weddings Cakes of 2009.
Today I begin by sharing a simple and creative way to showcase a single colour in your wedding… It’s tempting to lump Green in the category represented by Sponge cakes engorged by fluro-green icing in the rather amusing form of an Alien or Frog. This is the perfect solution for a children’s birthday party, but far from the picture we paint in our mind when it comes to our Wedding cake. These delicious confections however, cleverly demonstrate how the colour Green can be both elegant and fashionable and as far away from a kids Birthday party as you can get. From Sugar buttons and butterflies to Plaid icing and Applique flowers. Each of these cakes are the first official contenders in the 2009 Cakeout with my Fork out and make us Green with Envy.
