Going… Going… Growing!

Lately the popularity tree has been spreading it’s branches towards Eco-Friendly, Enviro-Safe choices in just about everything… From the cleaning products we use in our home, to the food we put on the table and the clothing that we wear, everyone seems to have jumped on the Greenie band-wagon. So it makes perfect sense to take a snippet of this idea and create an earth-friendly mantra when it comes to our weddings.

Now don’t cringe at the thought of a “Eco” wedding just yet. You can put a hemp, tie-died wedding dress and daisy chain sandals out of your head. And no, you don’t have to serve tofu at the reception with a side dish of organic lettuce mix freshly plucked from your backyard vegie patch. Rather, why not look at the way you present favors to your guests and transfer a little earth-love to them in the process.

Growing favors are a chic and Eco-conscious way to give the gift that keeps on giving. Whether it’s seeds in a mini watering can, a bulb in a box or a fragrant herb plant in a terracotta pot, each of these favors will live long after the wedding day and release the inner ‘green thumb’ in each of us. You could even give bird seed heart cookies to treat our feathered friends, or a Lucky Bamboo to promote prosperity and longevity. Whatever you chose it’s sure to make a difference, however small, and you didn’t even need to burn your bra to do it. ♥

I had potted herbs as the favor at my wedding. Mini teracotta pots with a name tag stake, very cute and made the reception smell like basil!
