Fluffy balls of Florally goodness, that is… Pomanders are making a comeback! Popular in past decades these round, landscaped floral arrangements can be seen everywhere in weddings today. From trimming the aisle, to decorating guests chairs at the reception, even as a unique variation to the traditional bridesmaid posy, Pomanders can be a creative and cost effective way to incorporate flowers into your wedding day.
Basically a Pomander is circular ball or florist foam, adorned with short cut blooms and trimmed with a ribbon tie. Anything from Carnations to Ranunculus, Roses to Chrysanthemums are suited to Pomanders and as their tight structured petals make for a dramatic arrangement in mass. So how are they cheaper than a regular bouquet I hear you ask? We don’t often realise that the stem of the flower is in fact a cost decider as to the commercial price we pay. Look at long-stemmed Roses for example, often double or more the price of their short-cut friends. Pomanders are a cheat way of using lower grade flowers with little or no stem, which can save you precious dollars and cents.

It doesn’t get any easier than this DIY project and it can be a fun way to involve your bridal party and happy-to-help relatives. A tip when creating your own floral masterpiece is to use as many flowers as possible. A perfect pomander will be jam-packed with flowers and have no floral foam exposed on it’s surface. Trimmed with a ribbon tie, Pomanders will keep well with regular mists of water and a cool place to hang out… When the time comes and your creation is on display, there’s no doubt your guests will be star-struck and in awe of your lovely balls. ♥
