Q. What type of Dance can couples learn at your studio?

A. We teach many different styles of dancing including traditional Ballroom (Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Viennese Walz and Tango), Latin American (Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba and Jive), Salsa, merenge, Zouk, Hip Hop and New Vogue. Each wedding routine is choreographed to suit the couples song choice, their dance ability and their personalities.

Q . What is the most popular dance style for Wedding couples?

A. I find the most popular dance style for wedding couples is the traditional ballroom dance of  Foxtrot or the romantic Rumba as these are both slow beat dances which can be danced to many of the slower romantic songs often chosen for the Bridal Waltz. It is also becoming more and more popular to mix a slow romantic song with something a little more upbeat and fun.

Q . How long does it take to learn a new style of dance?

A. It depends on the ability of the couple and if they have any dance experience. I would suggest having lessons at least 6-8 weeks before your wedding and making sure you practice your dance as often as possible between lessons. This helps to make the dancing look more natural and you will not have to think about it on the night if it is well rehearsed.

Q . What’s your recommendation for a ’show-stopping’ routine to wow your guests?

A. Choice of music is really important. It is great if the Bride and Groom both agree on the song and it is something special to them. Guests always love a few dips, elegant spins and those romantic moments. I have also had couples add a “show-stopping” lift and this always “wows” the guests.

Q . What’s your most memorable dancing moment?

A. My most memorable dancing moment would  be when my husband and I danced our Bridal Waltz. We met through dancing and having that special moment where we danced as husband and wife  for the very first time was very memorable.

Q. Any tips on choosing the right Studio to learn a new routine?

A. I suggest selecting a studio that you feel comfortable with and one that allows you to pay-as-you go, rather than sign a contract.
