‘Something Blue’ Wedding Cakes

“Something Old… Something New… Something Borrowed… Something Blue”. Brides have worn blue in one way or another for generations to symbolise love, modesty and fidelity. Traditionally ‘Something Blue’ might be a blue garter to wear or a dainty embroidered handkerchief to carry. I do however, like the idea of bending the rules slightly and incorporating this idea in other ways.
The great thing about wedding cakes these days is that you can be as subtle or flamboyant as you wish… A blue cake today is a grand statement of individuality and creative thinking… Clever cake designers like Gail Watson are creating confectionery masterpieces that are almost too good to eat. As much as I enjoy the notion of a blue cake sitting proudly on display I don’t think I could bring myself to make this choice… I cant shake that inevitable preconception that your guests will leave your reception harbouring tongues a delightful shade of bubblegum-blue. ♥

I like the cake with the motif. We had our initials iced onto our engagement cake in our theme colours, it looked really great!
