The Unveiled Bride

To wear a veil or not to wear a veil… That is the question. A question that most brides ask themselves at one crucial point or another. Gone are the days where the veil was worn to symbolise purity and virginity as we beckon an era when the decision is taken on the basis of feel-good fashion.

Some brides feel complete, demure and classic when donning a veil for the first time. For others however, it just doesn’t feel quite right and rather like wearing a see-through potato sack over ones head. If you fall into the latter category then why not throw those layers of tulle out the window and re-invent your choice of head wear.

It might be as simple as a crystal adorned satin head-band for a contemporary yet cute effect. Or go with a lace band instead, with connotations of yesteryear, and inspired by the 1920′s. You might prefer a birdcage style bonnet, with just enough netting to peek over your eyes or throw caution to the wind and go all out by wearing a fashionable designer hat. The key is finding a style that suits you down to the tee, so when you say ‘I do’, you’ll feel like the very best version of you, that you can be. ♥

I knew, when planning my wedding, that I wasn’t a “veil” girl. As much as they’re romantic, it just wasn’t me. So, I had a milliner design and make me a fascinator because I love hats. It was absolutely perfect and I received so many comments about it on the day. I’m so glad that I didn’t stick with tradition with this part of my outfit because it just wouldn’t have been right otherwise. The great thing too, is that I can wear my fascinator again (and plan to really soon)!
