Transition Spaces

Transition spaces by definition are basically an informal area that is used for guests to relax and unwind. They can be as structured or as relaxed as you like but regardless they are an easy way to provide guests with a comfortable place to sit while the rest of the wedding is going on around them. Transition Spaces are particularly useful during events where the Ceremony and Reception are held in the same location as they provide a secluded environment to allow guests to transition between the varied wedding related spaces.

One option is to hire a variety of furniture pieces and place them in a comfortable “living-room” like arrangement. These could be sofa’s, lounge chairs, ottomans or even large cushions or beanbags to give that lazy relaxed feel. You may be lucky enough to already have a space to utilise which may just need a few decorative touches to tie it in with your theme. I love the idea of outdoor transition spaces such as the first shown here… An eclectic yet stylish arrangement of borrowed furniture in the wide open outdoors. Just add a few candles or lights hanging from a nearby tree and you have a elegant space for guests to put their feel up and soak up the natural surroundings. ♥
